As a classical musician and IT industry journalist, I can 100% back everything you say. Moreover, I find it easier to shift intellectual gears after spending several hours writing than just sweating nonstop at the instrument.

Thankfully, my own experience has taught me to prioritize polymathy, but I wish I had known that at 18, when I was quite stubborn and thought it a betrayal to sway away from total dedication to music.
